The Elephant in Our Womb: The Fight for Women

Texas has passed a de-facto ban on abortion and brought the country to a crossroads. If allowed to remain in effect, Senate Bill 8 will be used as a template for GOP controlled legislatures across the country; with multiple states poised to pass identical pieces of legislation in the coming year. These bans create a system in which some Americans enjoy full Constitutional protections while others don’t. Access to abortion has enabled freedom, liberty, and equality for all Americans. There’s a keen interest to understand the state of abortion care, women’s rights, and the role of government pre and post the enactment of SB 8. This panel would discuss the current state of affairs, introduce the audience to people and organizations on the ground, and provide next steps everyone can take. Venue: Hilton Austin Downtown Salon C
