For decades, the interests of hospitals, insurance and pharmaceutical companies have been elevated above those of patients and caregivers — the patient experience is often an afterthought. Over the past year, these shortcomings have only been amplified. Through this presentation, Cactus’ Noah Waxman will introduce a simple, yet profound solution to many of these issues — put designers in charge. What are the implications of starting with the user experience (UX) or caregiver experience? How is a focus on UX changing primary care and pediatrics? How can designers work at scale to affect healthcare systems, e.g. new scaled models of at-home care?
