As cult whistleblowers turned podcasters documented in the critically-acclaimed HBO series “The Vow,” Sarah and Nippy have a lot to say about their experience, and burning questions to ask other survivors, experts, and advocates. This panel will be a live podcast recording of A Little Bit Culty that explores the relationship between storytelling, survivorship, and the expanding content cultiverse. Joined by Amanda Montell (linguist and ‘Cultish’ author) and Sarah Berman (VICE investigative journalist and ‘Don’t Call it a Cult’ author), Sarah and Nippy will cover the ways and means of extreme beliefs, cultic abuse, and unpack how prime time cult storytelling can impact both real-life survivors and big-time scoundrels.
