Location: The Iron Bear After a series of minimalist and infectious EP’s and singles, Miami’s Donzii will be releasing their debut album Spring 2022. Their ever-expanding collage of dark wave, new wave, funk and punk mixed with performance art was recognized by the Miami New Times as best band of 2020. Front-woman Jenna Balfe and bassist Dennis Fuller form the heart of the band alongside guitarist Danny Heinze and other guest musicians. Together they cast a spell upon all things Donzii creating a genre defying tropical and rhythmic tincture of sonic alchemy and gothic lore. In keeping with their recent appearances opening for New Order’s first-ever U.S. residency, Donzii’s initial single, “Pattern 26” is a heavy hitting and pulsating number which conjures Danceteria, Wax Trax and the vast clove-scented haunts of electronic body music.
