Bridging the Gap Between Man and Machine

Venue: Austin Convention Center, Room 12AB Jason Barnes, Gil Weinberg Jason Barnes has loved the drums his entire life. This didn’t change when he lost his arm in 2012. More and more, people in the disability community are the co-creators of the tools that are helping them and others pursue their goals and live the lives they want. And today, Jason’s love of music has led to the creation of one of the most advanced prosthetic limbs in the world, and he’s one of millions of people with disabilities doing what they love. Jason would start with an intro of the technology used to develop the drumming arm: AI, Machine Learning, TensorFlow and more. We’d then introduce Prof. Gil Weinberg, explain how he and Jason met and began collaborating on the arm. We’d wrap the session with a live drumming performance consisting of Jason, his music, and the AI prosthetic arm.
