The Plantarium Stage, RAI Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) appear to be the latest blockchain-derived innovation taking the internet by storm. From the rainbow colored meme Nyan cat to the first ever tweet, billions of dollars have been spent on NFTs. In 2021 alone, more than $40 billion was spent on NFTs. For artists and creatives, NFTs promise to revolutionize the industry, enabling them to monetize their work. While digital art appears to be the low-hanging fruit, NFTs in theory have much wider potential use cases. A common analogy picking up pace being that using NFTs only for digital art is akin to using the internet only for sending emails. In this session we'll discuss where the next set of use cases will emerge, and more broadly explore what the future of NFTs will look like.
