Technology pioneers have long sought ways to chronicle, preserve, and protect humanity's most important information. 20 years after the first Wikipedia entry, the online encyclopedia has succeeded in its mission to democratise access to knowledge. In many ways the original model for open source collaboration and decentralised governance, Wikipedia paved the way for modern decentralised technologies, which are now enabling the preservation of that same information in a provable and resilient manner. Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales joins Filecoin Foundation's Marta Belcher to discuss what open source and decentralised tech has meant over the last two decades, and what they will empower for future generations.
