The story of 2022 is well-known by now: record inflation; consumer belts tightening; war and antipathy between the West, Russia and China respectively; and global stocks and company earnings wavering. 2022 was no kinder to digital asset markets either. The industry reeled from last May’s crash; currencies remain stagnant; NFTs are struggling; regulators are cracking down; and companies are going bust. But crypto markets consistently prove themselves able to reinvent and regather themselves. Is the market capable of proving the critics wrong in the long term? Is heightened regulation and consolidation a net positive for future proofing the industry?
